Michael Lee Carter, Age 82, Passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper, Florida after a lengthy illness.
Michael was born on October 13,1943 to the late Herbert Lee Carter and Dorothy Wetherington Carter. Mike leaves behind his sister Diane Smith of Jennings, Florida and brother Elbert Carter (Regina) of Jasper, Florida, nephews and nieces, and his very closest best friend John H. Lindsey of Tifton, GA, and the love of his life Elaine Perez of Jasper, Florida, and many many wonderful friends.
Mike was a graduate of Jasper High School, Graduate of the University of Georgia, and an Avid Georgia Bulldogs Fan. He earned a masters degree in Counseling at Valdosta State College, then went, on to be a Substance Abuse and Addiction Counselor, and DUI Instructor at the DUI School of Valdosta, Georgia for many years. Years after Mike retired from DUI teaching, past students would still ask for him and say “ I like that old man”. His coworkers at the DUI School of Valdosta, Maria Sarabia, Nancy Skinner, John P. Lindsey, and Carnell Poole will miss him dearly. He was a certificated addition counselor at Greenleaf Crisis Center and Valdosta Correctional Institute. Mike will be remembered for his outgoing personality, for being an exceptional counselor and instructor, and especially for his unparalleled kindness to everyone.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
