Obituary

Michael Alan Evans, age 73, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on October 8, 2020 at Langdale Hospice in Valdosta following an extended illness.

Michael was born in Valdosta, Georgia on March 11, 1947 to the late Willie Ray and Jeannette Snellgrove Evans. The family moved to Fayetteville, NC where Mike and brother Gary grew up. He was a proud member of the 1965 graduating class of 71st High School Falcons. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army before he returned to Georgia and made Lake Park his home. It was there that he and wife Alicia would raise their daughter, Lynette. Mike retired from Roadway in 2009. He was the never ending story teller and could bend your ear for hours with tales that left one laughing or possibly scratching their head at how one man could possibly have that many stories memorized. He seriously considered himself and frequently argued his position as "Georgia's biggest fan." Mike was an active member at Crossroads Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia as long as his health permitted. He was a man of strong faith in his Lord Jesus Christ and never hesitated to share his faith and extend the plan of salvation. In days following a pretty grim diagnosis, Michael shared his testimony and his trust in the Lord's plan for his life. The Lord's plan was fulfilled for Mike on October 8, 2020, 2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but to all who crave His appearing.…

Michael is survived by his wife Alicia Evans of Valdosta, Georgia; his daughter, Lynette Evans Baer and her husband David of Lee, Florida; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Donna Evans of Lake Park, Georgia; and many other members of a large, loving family.
