Mildred Anne Morgan Miller, of White Springs, Florida, passed away at home on December 8, 2025, after a brave battle with cancer, with her loving husband of 62 years, Gilbert, holding her hand. Born on September 1, 1937, in Echols County, Georgia, near Fargo, she was the daughter of Ray and Nancy Morgan.
Mildred had a natural knack for style and became a beautician, bringing joy and confidence to everyone who sat in her chair. Her happiness and welcoming heart were a ray of sunshine to all she encountered. Early in her career, a quiet, nice-looking young man came into her shop with a friend, and by happenstance, they ended up out for a night on the town together with a group of friends. From that night on, Mildred and Gilbert never parted, beginning a beautiful life and marriage that would span 62 years.
After some time, they made their home in White Springs — the place she always considered home. Mildred loved watching television, working in her yard, and tending to her flowers whenever her health allowed. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family and friends. Her positive outlook and loving nature were her greatest gifts, making everyone around her feel cherished and cared for.
She, her sister, Phyllis, and her sister-in-law, Irene, were famously close. The three of them — lovingly known as “the Golden Girls” — were a familiar sight at the local nursing home, visiting residents, sharing smiles, and spreading cheer wherever they went. Caring for others wasn’t just something Mildred did; it was who she was. Her sister, Linda, was not only her sister but also her best friend. Linda was very active in her life, staying with Mildred in the hospital, helping care for her at home, and offering her steadfast support whenever she needed it most. Their bond was a true testament to the love between sisters.
Though her role as wife, mother, and grandmother was always her priority, her friends and community were dear to her heart. Her kindness, humor, and love left a mark on everyone who knew her.
Mildred is survived by her devoted husband, Gilbert; her son, Phillip Wayne Miller (Kimberley) of Mayo; her grandchildren, Phillip Wayne Miller II and Morgan James Miller; her sister, Linda Morgan Waldron; and her foster daughter, Brenna Carter Hewett.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Ray and Nancy Morgan; her brother and sister in law, Hilward and Irene Morgan; her sister, Phyllis Rhoden; and her foster daughter, Virginia Carter Weaver.
Mildred’s life will be celebrated on December 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, with a viewing beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida.
Mildred was golden — in her spirit, her heart, and the way she made others feel. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and countless memories that will be cherished forever.
