Special remembrance:

My momma thru my eyes
By Amos
Nancy was best known for her welcoming smile, her love for antiques, and always having room for one more. She loved her horses & dogs, going  to the beach, and she loved her family. She loved to rodeo with her girls no matter the distance or the cost. Momma would jump in that dually loaded down with young'uns & hook to a six-horse slant full of horses and take off driving to only God knows where for her babies to ride. Momma suffered from depression & anxiety for several years and during this time she had two friends she grew very close to, Mary Fortanus and Gwen McClain. These two ladies helped her thru some difficult times in her life and they should know she was very thankful for them and that she loved them both very much!! I was taught from a young age, to treat people the way you want to be treated, don't sugar coat anything just be honest, always be a straight shooter, hold your shoulders back and your head high always stand up straight and tall, because no matter what you have done, right or wrong you're my young'un and that's something to be proud of even if you have nothing else. She was a strict, say whatcha mean and mean whatcha say kinda momma, if you lived under her roof you would go to school or go to work, she didn't tolerate laziness. Momma was just as carefree as she was strict, mind your own business, trusting soul that didn't judge a book by its cover, a very strong & independent woman that stood behind what she believed in & wanted the best for her family.
It didn't scare her to face the world alone with three children, in 1977 she moved us back to Jasper got a job at Cecil Eatmon's Feed Store and supported us. Life was that simple to her, we were a package deal, no matter what! When Doodlebug entered our life, everything came together for us. She called him her rock, solid and sturdy. He was strong enough to hold us up when we couldn't do it ourselves. She would say he was sent to us by God and our family was complete. It wasn't always easy sailing but we were always together, we never went hungry or without clothes & always had a roof over our head. She had a get out and work for what you want ethic. Nothing is given in this life, she would say you can't be scared to get out and earn what you want. She believed in the Father, the son and the Holy Ghost, second chances, first impressions, doing your best, the American Flag & what it stands for, Donald Trump & taking care of your own. She liked to consider her home, "Hickory Bottom" as she called it, a safe haven. She would make it clear that her doors were always open to anyone that needed a place to stay and she made sure everyone always felt welcome & safe.
She will be greatly missed by so many but sadly she never knew so many of us cared. She would say, life is too short, leave nothing unsaid & have no regrets because we are not promised tomorrow. When she left this world, she had retired from a business career, been happily married since 1980, owned her dream home filled with her antiques she had been collecting since high school, raised three children and enjoyed every minute spent with all her grandbabies, she had no regrets and was guilt free. She would tell you all she lived a blessed life.
