Nancy Louise LaPorte, age 69, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at her home in Jasper. Nancy relocated to Jasper in October of 2015 to be closer to family.

Nancy was born in Dade City, FL on November 6, 1948 to the late Milo and Hazel Lowe Layport. She worked at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL for twenty years and prior to that she worked many years at Legal Services of North Florida. She especially enjoyed working with the students at FSU and helping them to get the support they needed. Nancy was also very creative. She was an accomplished pianist and spent much of her free time composing music, writing poetry and thinking deeply about the world around her. She will always be remembered for being thoughtful and kind, for her deep love of animals, for her true enjoyment of connecting with her friends and neighbors, and for the love she felt for her family. She was dearly loved.

Nancy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laurel LaPorte-Grimes and Carlos Jusem of Manchester, Connecticut; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Daymond and Sylvie Grimes of Lakeland, FL and Benjamin David and Kelli D. Grimes of Jasper, FL; four grandchildren, Stevey Lynn Panton, Dakota Lee Jusem-LaPorte, Carolina Rose Jusem-LaPorte and Robby Grimes.
