Ola Junior Herndon, 83, of Valdosta, GA, passed away on July 26, 2024. He was born on June 3, 1941, in Bellville, FL, to Ollie and Arwilla Herndon. Ola was a dedicated and skilled auto technician who proudly ran his own business for many years.
An avid outdoorsman who found joy in nature, Ola spent countless hours fishing in the waters around the South Georgia area, casting his line with patience and skill. Hunting was another passion for Ola. He cherished many quiet moments in the woods, taking in the beauty and peacefulness of his surroundings. Fishing and hunting were more than hobbies for Ola; they were a way of life that connected him deeply to the area he called home and provided a sense of peace and fulfillment.
A lifelong Braves fan, Ola enjoyed watching baseball games, sharing his enthusiasm and team spirit with those around him. His love for the Braves was a constant source of joy and excitement in his life, rarely missing a game and always cheering, whether they were winning or losing.
Ola was married for 61 years to the love of his life, Mary Herndon. Their enduring marriage was a testament to their deep bond and unwavering commitment to each other.
Ola is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his sons, Randy Herndon and Ronnie Herndon, both of Valdosta, GA; his daughter, Pam Brumfield (Buddy Harris) of Valdosta, GA; his brothers, Henry Herndon (Tracy) and Charles Herndon, both of Bellville, FL; his brother, Jay Hughes (Donna) of Valdosta, GA; his sisters, Hilda Parker (Allen) of Lake Park, GA, and Geneva Herndon of Valdosta, GA. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service to honor the life of Ola will be held on Monday, July 29th at 12:00 p.m. at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL, with a visitation just before the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at Herndon Cemetery in Bellville, FL.
Ola Herndon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, love for his family, and passion for life will forever be remembered.
