Oleta Henderson Smith Johnson, of Jasper, Florida, passed away at the age of 95 (Aug 1, 1914-Jan. 21, 2010). Her parents were Frank M. and Mary Kate Bell Henderson of Hamilton County. Before Mrs. Johnson's decline in health, she was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church. She served as Past Matron of Eastern Star, Chapter #199. Mrs. Johnson was predeceased in death by husbands, James Smith and George Johnson; two sons, James Franklin Smith and William Scott Smith; siblings, Lonzo Henderson, Kathryn Buckels (Robert C), Lucille Naeve (Hank), Odis Henderson (Mary Ann), Ralph and Raymon Henderson, and three infant brothers.
She is survived by her brother, Alton (Sarah) Henderson, Jasper; her two daughters-in-law, Twig S. Greenhaw Crosbyton, TX and Eleanore Canon, Shingletown, CA; her sister-in-law, Martha Ruth Henderson, Jasper; grandchildren Mary Beth (George) Porchas , Yuma, AZ, Scott Smith, Jr., Redding, CA, Kathleen (Bill) Hollowell, Anderson, CA, and Sammie (Alan) Davenport, Sterling, VA. She is survived by many close nephews and nieces, namely Lori (Richard) Bramblett, Warner Robins, GA, whom she reared, several great-grandchildren; and her devoted caretaker, Avis Cason.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at Jasper First United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
