Palmer Gene Smith, Sr., age 75, of Jasper, FL. passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at his home in Jasper. Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Hamilton County. He retired from the Florida Power Corporation and loved working on the family farm. Mr. Smith served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jasper. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Georgia Mae Miller Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Addie Mae Jones Smith; two sons, Palmer Gene Smith, Jr. (Annise), Jasper, FL. and Charles Arthur "Art" Smith (Jesus Salgueiro), Chicago, IL.; one brother, John Smith (Wanda), Starke, FL.; one sister, Brenda Hicks (Sammy), Madison, FL.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating, assisted by Rev. Gerald Smith. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
