Patricia "Pat" Ann Wheeler Lord (née Pittman), 86, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away
peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, after a brief illness.
Born in Lowndes County, Georgia, on July 7, 1939, Pat was the eldest daughter of the late
Carroll and Verdia Mae Anderson Pittman. She was a graduate of Jasper High School.
Pat was first married to Virgil L. Wheeler, with whom she shared a loving marriage and three
sons. After his passing, she raised their boys while working at the Levi Strauss factory in
Valdosta, Georgia. Years later, she found love again and shared 38 wonderful years with her
devoted husband, Sidney Lord.
A true homemaker at heart, Pat was known for her delicious country cooking, beautiful
quilts, and expert sewing skills. She loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures in her
later years, including memorable trips to Hawaii and Cape Cod.
Pat was also proud to be part of a farm family and was active in the Farm Bureau Ladies
Committee, where she enjoyed participating in Ag in the Classroom advocacy and farm
tours. She had a deep appreciation for the agricultural community and the values it
represented.
A longtime member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, Pat treasured her church family and
made countless friends there over the past 40 years. She was a loyal supporter of the
church's Shoebox Ministry, always giving generously to help others.
Pat is survived by her three sons, Lamar (Sassy), Virgil, and Jeffrey Wheeler; two
stepchildren she loved as her own, Adrienne Lord (Kevin) Grant and Jackson (Michelle)
Lord; and two sisters, Wanda McCall and Jean McGarrah. To her grandchildren, she was
affectionately known as "Nene" or "Nana," titles she cherished most of all. Her ten
grandchildren include Erryn and Shannon Wheeler; Rev. Carter Suzanne and Jarrett Grant;
Meredith Lord (Robert) Hicks; Natalie, Samuel, Audrey, Jacob, and Jonah Lord. She is also
survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Cindy Santerfeit,
and nephew, Zach Barber, who held a very dear place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Virgil L. Wheeler; her second
husband, Sidney Lord; five brothers, Bill, Bobby, Richard, Winston, and Jonathan Pittman; one sister, Libby Moore; and an infant son.
Funeral services will be held at Philadelphia Baptist Church on Monday, October 13, 2025,
at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning one hour prior. Interment will follow at Carter's
Cemetery in Statenville, Georgia.
