IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy Sue
Alderman
October 24, 1947 – February 18, 2025
Peggy Sue Alderman was born on October 24, 1947, to James and Effie Womack. She was the fourth of five children. She spent her childhood contributing to her family by cleaning the house and cooking meals.
When she was a sophomore in high school, her mother had a stroke. She missed a lot of school that year caring for her mother's every need. She did her homework at night, but her family came first.
She met her husband, Bobby Gene Alderman, during her senior year. They were married on April 2, 1966. While he was in the Air Force, they spent most of their time in Massachusetts. During those years, she did everything she could to support him and contribute to their marriage.
On October 29, 1973, their son, Robert David Alderman, was born. When he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, she dedicated her life to helping him reach his full potential. Throughout David's childhood, she fought numerous political battles to provide her son with the education he was entitled to. God used her to pave the way not only for her son but for all disabled kids who had the ability to learn. The laws currently in effect to protect disabled people are a result of her efforts.
She also loved music. She grew up attending singing conventions where her father played piano. It was at these conventions she learned to harmonize. She used her gift to sing with her husband and, later, her son as well as other members of her family. She had a beautiful alto voice.
Peggy went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2025, due to complications of dementia. She is preceded in death by parents, James Womack and Effie Womack, brother Howard Womack, brother Herschel Womack, and brother Jesse Womack. Peggy is survived by her husband, Bobby Gene Alderman, son, Robert David Alderman (Julie Alderman), sister, Mittie Elizabeth Deas (Albert Deas), and numerous nieces and nephews. She is now in Heaven in the arms of Jesus receiving her reward for her faithfulness to Him.
