Phyliss Elaine Bennett Dampier "Shorty", age 72, of Jennings, FL. passed away on December 6, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA. following a brief illness.

She answered to many names, some knew her as Phyliss, some knew her as Elaine and some by the nickname of "Shorty". Phyliss was born on May 22, 1949 to the late James Willard and Martha Jean O'Steen Bennett. She worked for several years at Walmart until she decided it was time to retire. Phyliss loved her family and loved spending time with them but it seemed that when she lost her husband of 50 years, Joe Dampier in June of 2020, she lost the will to live.

Survivors include her two sons, Joe Dampier, Jr. and Willard (Will) Dampier "Fred" and his wife Casey, all of Jennings, FL.; several brothers and sisters; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Per her wishes, Phyliss was cremated. Private memorial services will be held.
