Raymond Devine Stratton, born on August 18, 1947, in Jacksonville, FL, to Roy and Beulah Stratton, passed away on March 18, 2024. As a young man, Raymond moved to Live Oak, FL, where he established roots and remained in the Suwannee/Hamilton County area for the rest of his days.
Raymond was a man of faith, deeply devoted to his beliefs and his family. Embracing his love for the outdoors, Raymond became an avid hunter. Hog hunting became his passion, and with a pack of loyal hounds by his side, he roamed the forests with a sense of adventure and determination. In addition to hunting, Raymond found joy in fishing and cherished moments spent with his grandchildren, creating memories that will endure for generations to come.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Weta Corbett; his daughters, April McDonald (Brent) of Jennings, FL, and Ann Stratton of Jacksonville, FL; his sons, Billy Grimes (Teri) of Tennessee, Ray Stratton (Tara) of Jacksonville, FL, and Jessie Wilson; his brothers: Aaron, Bud, Jack, Carl, and Harry Stratton; his sisters, Loraine Hardin and Edith Mercer; 23 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Raymond is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Stratton, and his son Billy Wilson, as well as several brothers and sisters: Earl, Alfred, Harold, and Jerry Stratton; Debra Ambrose, and Linda Wallace.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Raymond's life will take place on Monday, March 25, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Live Oak, FL, at 2:00 p.m.
