IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
Lamar Wynn
March 4, 1948 – December 24, 2022
Robert "Bob" Lamar Wynn, of Jasper, FL. passed away at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA. following a lengthy illness at the age of 74. Bob fought the good fight and finished his final race on December 24, 2022. There are just a couple of very important facts one needs to know about Bob. The first was that he was a farmer for thirty-five years. Yes indeed, he was a farmer. You might have known that Bob worked at Occidental/PCS and retired after thirty years there but…Bob was a farmer. Second and perhaps most important thing in life (only by a short margin behind his wedding and the birth of his children), Bob was a basketball player. The story goes that as a 10 th grade basketball player for Jennings High School he shot and sunk the ball at the final buzzer to win the game against Bell High School. One might wonder just how that fact might be so widely known? Well, if you ever traveled through Bell, FL. with him or perhaps even discussed the game of basketball, Bob relived that moment over and over as if it had happened just days before. In fact, his wife and children can testify that he NEVER went through Bell that he didn't tell that story. But it is also a well-known fact that his marriage to Patricia (nee Poole) formerly of Live Oak, FL. and the birth of his children, truly defined the man that he was. He was a faithful husband and a dedicated father and grandfather. He was perceived as a man of few words but given the chance to warm up, Bob could be quite the talker and storyteller. Following their retirement, his pastimes included taking trips with friends and family, mowing the lawn (and half of SR 6 West roadside) and watching the Florida Gators. Whether you knew him from grade school or you were exposed to him more recently, it was a fact that, if questioned about where he was from, it was seldom Jasper, FL. but rather "Crossroads" where his parents owned the only mom and pop store within miles and sold old fashioned ice cream cones and RC Cola's with peanuts to be dumped inside the bottle before drinking. Bob was one of five sons born to the late James and Willie Mae Roebuck Wynn and was preceded in death by two of those brothers, Wendell Wynn and Billy Wynn. He was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patricia Poole Wynn of Jasper; his daughter, Lisa Wynn Griffis and her husband Kevin of Hahira, GA.; his son, Robert "Rob" L. Wynn, Jr. and his wife Brooke of Smithfield, Virginia; two brothers, Charles Wynn and Gene Wynn, both of Jasper, FL.; his four grandchildren, Kailyn Wynn Baker, J.P. Wynn, Blake Wynn and Caydon Griffis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to: New Hope Baptist Church General Fund, 6592 NW 48 th St. Jasper, FL. 32053.
