Robert M. Stewart, age 91, of Jasper, FL. passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Lake City V. A. Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Stewart was born in Live Oak, Florida to the late Harry and Nita Cheshire Stewart. He retired from the Hamilton County School Board where he worked in the maintenance department for many years. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and enjoyed a semi-pro boxing career and was proud to have sparred with the great former heavy weight boxing champ, Jack Dempsey.

Survivors include his two nephews, Howard J. "Blinky" Stewart and Harry E. Stewart (Myrtle), all of Jasper, Fl.

Graveside services were held Sunday, May 10th at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Roger Hutto officiating.
