Robert Keith Strunk

Bob Strunk, 63, passed away peacefully in his home in Jasper, Florida, on July 06, 2026, after a prolonged battle with heart disease.

Bob was born in Petersburg, Virginia and had lived in Jasper since 2012. Bob met and married his high school sweetheart , Rhonda Johnson, while attending high school in Monticello, KY. They married soon after graduation and moved to Sebastian, FL. Two years later they welcomed a baby boy, Robert “Mark” Strunk, into the world on August 31, 1982. Bob worked with his father in the concrete business in Indian River and Brevard counties until he branched out on his own and moved to Jacksonville, FL. He was an owner/operator of his concrete business and dabbled in carpentry on the side. He loved to work with wood building things such as a bird house and quickly graduated to building furniture. In 2011, Bob went to California to work with his brother Jim at Atlas Engineering where he was introduced to dredging work. Bob took that information and ran with it. During this time, his son Mark came out to California to work with his Uncle Jim and Dad. You can see that the Strunk family looked out for each other. Afterwards, Bob went to work for CDW Construction out of California and was sent to Yuma, AZ to work on the Imperial Dam. He was there for about a year and a half and then moved on to Camp Pendleton. In March of 2012, he wound up in Alaska for work, immediately having to buy a new wardrobe. He was there until September when he then went home to help care for his ill mother. While caring for his mom, he promised her that he would stay home after she passed to help care for his father. After his father passed, he went to work for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company. They sent him to a Kansas worksite. He was with Great Lakes until he retired.

Bob was hardworking, funny and had a big heart. He would do anything for you.

Survivors include his son, Robert “Mark” Strunk and wife Cindy of Independence, KY; Former wife and Mark’s mother, Rhonda Sue Shepperd of Monticello, KY; Siblings, Patricia “Kelly” King and husband John of Jasper, FL; Tracy Helen Edwards of Jacksonville, FL; One granddaughter Rileigh Anne Strunk; Two Nephews, Coty Ramone Edwards and wife Lashikaand, Ethan Charles Miller Strunk; Three nieces, Ashley Nicole Bass and husband Richard, Alyssa Janae Dodson and Courtney Brooke King; One great nephew Zamiar Edwards; Four great nieces, Aja and Azariyah Rose Edwards, Addison Gerri and Abigail Marie Bass. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldene “Gerri” M. Strunk, father, Charles Robert“Pops” Strunk and brother, James “Jim” Park Strunk.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
