Obituary

Robert Raoul Tanguay Sr., a man of remarkable talents and unwavering dedication to his family, passed away on February 19, 2024. Born on November 06, 1932, in Westbrook, Maine, Robert was the beloved son of Raoul and Rose Tanguay.

A dedicated veteran who bravely served his country in the Korean War as a Marine, Robert exemplified courage and commitment throughout his life. Following his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling journey filled with remarkable achievements and memorable experiences.

In a twist of fate, Robert found his life partner, Naoko, and their marriage marked the beginning of a beautiful and enduring love story. Together, they navigated life's ups and downs, creating cherished memories and overcoming challenges with unwavering support for each other.

Robert's professional endeavors reflected his versatility and ingenuity. From his time at the S.D. Warren Paper Mill in Westbrook, Maine to tending the grounds of St. Hyacinth Church and owning and managing a chicken farm, and then a horse stable, and working for MSAD#6 maintaining all the school grounds, Robert approached each endeavor with passion and proficiency. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to establish a snowmobile track complete with amenities, and he also managed a freshwater beach, enriching the lives of many with his ventures.

In pursuit of warmer climates, Robert and Naoko relocated to Hamilton County, Florida, where they continued to build a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Robert's knack for craftsmanship and his "Jack of All Trades" mentality endeared him to many, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his.

Robert's passing is preceded by his cherished wife of 67 years, Naoko and siblings David, Donald, Roland, Gerard, Priscilla Moulton, Florence, and Gloria. He is survived by his devoted sons, Robert Jr. (Cathy) of Jasper, FL and James (Sharon) of Lee, FL, daughter Naomi  Mitchell (John) of Lake Park, GA, brothers Michael and Camil, sister Germaine, seven grandchildren: Pamela Brown, Jason Tanguay, Robert Tanguay III, Tammy Brown, Scott Tanguay, Eva Clark and Tiffany Silver; ten greatgrandchildren, Marissa Sargent, Michael Tanguay, Joshua Richardson, Nellie Tanguay, C.J. Sargent, Thomas Brown, Kaylee Tanguay, Noah McKee, Lydia McKee and Liam McKee and two great, great grandchildren, Elijah and Iris.

Robert's family will hold a private Celebration of Life, and he will be laid to rest with his wife in Westbrook Maine later this summer.
