Obituary

Robin Lynne Vinkemulder DeRocco, age 63, of Valdosta, GA., passed away at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA. following a brief illness.

Robin was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 22, 1957 to the late Phillip and Phyllis Riley Vinkemulder. Her testimony is one that does not describe an easy road having been born very premature, growing up with three brothers and three sisters and then in the years that followed when her young husband fell ill with multiple sclerosis. The message at the end of the day was that each step of life prepared her for the next. She and her husband Laddie owned and operated a cleaning business before moving from Pompano to Hamilton County. Later she secured a job in fast food management followed by a career in banking, all leading her to the job of a lifetime in ministry at Repeat Boutique in Valdosta. She would spend the next eleven years being able to share the love of Jesus to people in need of help in one way or another. Robin never turned a stray away, be it an injured animal or a human with a hurting heart. She loved ministering to youth in hopes of giving them a foundation on which to grow. It was so very important to her that her children and grandchildren knew the love of the Lord. She proudly ran with the title as "Best Nana Ever".

An obituary simply cannot begin to show you the heart of Robin DeRocco but her belief and the message she would have shared is found in Psalm 91: Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Robin trusted her God with her life and he was faithful to his Word. Today she is with her Father in Heaven.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Laddie DeRocco, Sr.; her children, Laddie DeRocco II (April), Steven DeRocco (Emily), Theresa Bryant (Tony), Matt and Shelly King; her two brothers, Dan Vinkemulder (Janet) and Larry Vinkemulder (Gaye); her three sisters, Penny V. Fraley (John), Beth V. Hellman (Robin) and Nancy V. Ash (Kenny); and nine grandchildren.

Robin was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dwight Vinkemulder.

The family shared a private memorial service at First Baptist Church in Jasper before celebrating a graveside committal at Burnham Church Cemetery.
