Ronald Law "Ronny" Smith, age 62, of Jasper, FL. passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Shands at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City, FL. following an extended illness.

Ronny was born in Valdosta, GA. on October 15, 1951 to the late Elza D. and Melba Law Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County. Following in the footsteps of his father, Ronny started working in the construction industry as a young man. Working alongside his father and with his brother Danny for many years, everyone knew the Smith family could build it if you could dream it. Ronny was later joined by his son Scott and  together they built a successful construction business that will continue the Smith building legacy for years to come. Ronny was a man of few words but hunting and fishing were two words that he knew well. He knew the woods and waterways of Hamilton County almost as well as he knew the ins and outs of building a house or barn. He enjoyed spending time on the water with friends and family or right by himself.

Ronny was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mickey Ray Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Kay Tompkins Smith; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Scott Smith and Kara; two grandsons, Peyton Law Smith and Anderson Burkett Smith, all of Jasper; three brothers, Joel Wayne Smith (Lisa) of Bell, FL., Elza "Danny" Smith (Kathy), Jasper, FL. and Gary Glenn Smith of Vermont; also surviving is a sister-in-law, Marsha Hall Smith of Colquitt, GA. In addition to his immediate family, Ronny had an extended family of sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws as well as a host of friends that loved him and will miss him very much.

Graveside services were held Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Smith Family Cemetery which is near the home of Ronny and Kay on 99 ^th Ave.
