Obituary

Roy Waldo Rogers, age 72, of Jasper, FL. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at his home. Roy was a native of Lowndes County, Georgia. He was born on September 18, 1949 to the late Waldo and Geneva Trull Rogers. He graduated high school from Lowndes County High and completed his education at Valdosta State College where he earned a B.S. Degree and later his Master's Degree in History. Roy married Sybil Johnson in 1973 and the two grew their family to five with the addition of three beautiful daughters. Roy was the City of Live Oak Building Official and Zoning Administrator and was still actively employed. Prior to going to Live Oak, Roy served as the Hamilton County, FL. Building Official for a number of years. He taught middle school ages at both Hamilton County and Clinch County School Districts. Before becoming a building official, he and his father Waldo owned Rogers Construction of Jasper, FL. Roy was a deacon and active member of the First Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. He was a man of strong faith and one that raised his family in the way they should go. He and his wife Sybil were always very active in the youth ministry. Roy didn't just love his children as a father should, Roy enjoyed the time he had with each one of them as they came into the family and by extension, he loved and enjoyed each grandchild with the same enthusiasm. He was preceded in death by his parents Waldo and Geneva Rogers.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sybil; daughter, Jennifer Andrews, her husband Stephen and their eight children, Sarah, Anna, Rachel, Ellie, John Ezra, Liam, Eliza and Saoirse Andrews; his daughter Denise Selph and her husband Clint and their two daughters, Audrey and Catherine Selph; and his daughter April DeRocco and her husband Laddie and their two children, Sebastian and Miles DeRocco.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Jasper. Interment followed at Lake Park Cemetery 6451 Ocean Pond Avenue Lake Park, GA 31636. Lake Park, GA.
