Ruby Strickland Izell, age 86, of Jasper, FL. passed away on June 1, 2023 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center following an illness of some time.

Ruby, a native of Hamilton County, FL., was born on June 27, 1936 to the late George and Zenobia Bell Strickland. She was the mother of six children and raised two of her grandchildren. Ruby was a natural caregiver and worked as a C.N.A. at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center for many years. Upon leaving the nursing home, she worked as a private care giver for a number of families. She was that grandmother that every child dreamed of and a true Matriarch to the Izell family. She always had time to give love and good godly advice. She was a faithful member of Jasper Assembly of God as long as her health permitted.  She enjoyed embroidery, reading and shopping but most of all she loved her family and enjoyed every minute she had with each one of them. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband William E. Izell, a son, William Roland "Bo" Izell and a grandson, Brian Izell.

Survivors include two sons, Charles "Buddy" Izell and his wife Cheryl and Darrin "Bear" Izell and his wife Teresa; her three daughters, Ann Jenkins and her husband Jody, Vicky Hampton and Denise Morgan and her husband Ron; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Jasper Assembly of God Church.

Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
