Ruth Caldwell Vann, age 96, of Jasper, FL. passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 at her home following an illness of some time. Mrs. Vann was born May 15, 1912 in Jasper, FL. to the late Ben M. and Tobitha Clardy Caldwell. Ruth worked as a nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville for thirty two years. Following her retirement she decided to return to Jasper where she made her home with husband, John Tolbert Vann, Jr. until his death in 1994. Mrs. Vann was a member of the Jasper First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two sons, John Tolbert Vann, III (Ella Janie), Jasper, FL. and Ben Frank Vann (Donna Marie), Jacksonville, FL.; two brothers, Carlton Caldwell (Ann), Panama City, FL. and Stafford Caldwell (Nora Evelyn), Alachua, FL.; two sisters, Jeri Brooke, Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Martha Mitchell (Dr. William S.), Orange Park, FL.;6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, 34 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 1, 2009 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Smith officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
