Samuel C. Anderson Sr., age 95, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on September 17, 1930, in Odessa, Florida, Sam lived a long and honorable life marked by devotion to faith, family, and country. He was married to his beloved wife, Gertrude Anderson, for nearly 70 years. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2021—almost five years to the day before his passing—a testament to a lifelong bond that neither time nor death could sever.
Sam proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. His service was a source of quiet pride, and he carried the values of his generation—duty, humility, and perseverance—throughout his life.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Sam believed deeply in hard work, personal responsibility, and keeping one’s word. He led by example and was known for his steady presence, gentle sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. He showed love not through grand gestures, but through consistency, sacrifice, and always being there when it mattered most. An avid outdoorsman, Sam especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
In his later years, Sam found comfort in familiar routines and treasured time spent with family, carrying the memory of Gertrude close to his heart. Together, they built a legacy of strength, faithfulness, and enduring love.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Anderson, and his son, Duane Anderson.
He is survived by his sons, Sam Anderson Jr. (Donna) and Mitch Anderson (Tanya); his sister, Stella Phillips (James); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on February 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m., at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, 901 NW 5th Avenue, Jasper, Florida. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors.
