Samuel Lewis Roberts, age 78, of Jennings, FL. passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 17, 2011. Mr. Roberts was the son of the late Moultrie Hill Roberts and Elizabeth Rowe Roberts. He was born in Jacksonville, FL. where he lived most of his life. Mr. Roberts served in the United States Army. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Phyllis Smith from Hamilton County. He retired as shop foreman from the City of Jacksonville and in 1978 they moved to Jennings. "Sammy' as he is fondly remembered was a supporter of New Hope Baptist Church and was a faithful member and worker in the Advent Christian Church in Jasper.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Smith Roberts; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Dolly Roberts, Jennings, FL.; two grandchildren, Liz and Weston Roberts.

Funeral services were held 3:00 Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Advent Christian Church in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Wayne Sullivan officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
