Sandra Kay Streat, age 63, of Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at HCA North Florida Hospital in Gainesville after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born in Jasper, Florida, on April 17, 1961. Mrs. Streat was one of ten children born to Jeanette (Gill) and Lester Tanner and had lived in Baker County all her life.
Known by most of her family as "Nama," Sandra was headstrong and the glue that held her family together. She would love on you in a minute but would not hesitate to correct you if you were doing wrong. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, she dedicated herself to the care of her family and being an amazing cook. To know her was to love her.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Billy, Hillard, Sammy, and Trennon Tanner; sisters, Maria Batz and Faye Boyd; beloved daughter, Christina Streat; and precious grandsons, Joseph Streat and Trever Thornton. Survivors include her devoted husband of 44 years, Jimmy Streat of Glen St. Mary; daughters, Amanda Lynn Hodges (John Vann) of Denver, North Carolina and Nickie Nicole Finley (Kevin) of Macclenny; brothers, E.D. Tanner of Jasper and Roger Tanner of Newberry; sisters, Betty Joe Hodges (Timmy) of Glen St. Mary and Francis Tanner of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Jonathan (Kansas), Emilie (Trace Milton), Gary (Connor), Hailey (Phillip), and Jase; great-grandchildren, Brinleigh and Olivia; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Road to Calvary Church in Glen St. Mary with Pastor Shane Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in Manntown Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel.
