IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shelly Martin
Goldie
August 21, 1939 – December 4, 2020
Shelly M. Goldie, age 81 of Jasper, FL. passed away on December 4, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Shelly was born on August 21, 1939 in Naples, FL. the sixth child in a family of nine children.
Shelly worked for over 30 years taking care of the facilities of St. Ann Catholic Church maintaining the church, as well as all of the school properties, the rectory and convent and all the grounds they sat on. Because his employment spanned 30 years it was multi-generational as he began to meet children of the children that had attended years before. He was "Mr. Shelly" to all of the children and staff. Following his retirement from the school he worked for the Collier County Road Department as a heavy equipment operator and large truck driver. Shelly retired to Jasper in 2001. When questioned why was he moving to Jasper because there was "nothing there"... he simply stated "That is why I am moving there". He almost made it out of the state but not quite.
Shelly is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carla Goldie of Jasper; his children, Tony Goldie (Debbie) of Melbourne, FL., Brenda Heisner (Scott) of Groveland, FL., Roger Walker (Darleen) of Interlocken, FL., Debbie Griffith (Joe) of Jennings, FL., James Goldie of Live Oak, FL. and Laura Johnson (Robert) of Jasper, FL.; and he was "the best Paw Paw" to 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Also surviving Shelly is his brother Clinton Goldie (Laurel Allice); sister Linda Thompson and his baby sister Aileen Van Garsel.
