Sherrie Laverne Selph Brown, of Lake Park, GA passed away at her home on July 28, 2023 at the age of 51. Sherrie was born to proud parents, George Lee "G.L." and Rosie Pittman Selph on April 21, 1972 in Valdosta, GA. Sherrie grew up in Hamilton County, FL. As a child she attended North Hamilton Elementary School and, unbeknownst to them both, it was there in her first grade classroom that she would meet her future husband, Buck Brown. Sherrie went on to graduate from Hamilton County High School in 1990. After graduating, Sherrie obtained her certification from the Department of Corrections and was a master on the range when it came to her weapons qualifications. She worked for the Department of Corrections for 10 years as a correctional officer at Hamilton CI. Sherrie lived in Jennings, FL for much of her life. In December of 1994 she gave birth to her precious daughter, Amber (Willis) Profetto. She remained in Jennings until 2009 when she became reacquainted with Buck and the two moved to Lake Park after they married. Sherrie retired from the Department of Corrections to do what her family deemed her most fulfilling job and that was caring for her grandson, Mason Profetto. After Mason went to school, Sherrie went back to school and obtained her commercial truck driving certificate from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. She was especially proud of that degree and worked for Nacarato Truck Centers until her death. In her spare time, Sherrie loved travelling to the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. She especially enjoyed road trips with her beloved sister, Ann Hinton, the two of them enjoyed countless trips together until Ann's passing earlier this year. Sherrie was proceeded in death by her father, "GL" Selph and her sister Ann Hinton.
Survivors include her loving husband, Willaim "Buck" Brown; her treasured daughter Amber Profetto and her fiancé Justin Scott; her bonus children, Courtney Browning, Valerie Brown and Justin Brown; her beloved mother, Rosie Pittman Selph, her brother and sister-in-law Dennis Selph and his wife Vonda, brother-in-law James Hinton, her grandchild, Mason Profetto, and Ivy Scott.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 5pm-7pm at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home and a funeral service in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 11 am. Interment followed at Community Cemetery in Adel, GA.
