IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Hall
Smith
January 3, 1938 – February 15, 2022
Shirley Wylene Hall Smith, age 84, of Jasper, FL. passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born on January 3, 1938 in Nashville, GA. to the late Nathan and Sara Barnes Hall. She lived a good many of her formative years in the Cordele/Sylvester GA. area until she met the love of her life Wayne Smith. After the two married they made another couple of detours on their way to Jasper where they made their home and raised their two daughters. Shirley was the Executive Director for the Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce for just shy of 20 years. Two things in particular that Shirley is credited with by her family and that was cooking and growing flowers and plants. Her grandchildren fondly remember being able to bring their nearly departed plants and Shirley would lay her green thumb on them and bring them back to life. No one in the family claims any gift that she may have passed on to them for either cooking or the rescuing of plants. One thing everyone could attest to without question, was her love and dedication to her family and her beloved husband. Wayne easily recalls the Christmas Eve that he took her as his bride some 67 years ago and he fondly recollects the many years she looked after he and the girls, the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. and was active in the church as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Smith; her two daughters, Angela Smith Howell and Sharon Smith Davis both of Lake Park, GA; her sister, Martha Robinson of Tifton, GA; three grandchildren, Rebecca Wynne (Brent), Emilee Boyette (Steven) and Elijah Howell (Jennifer); six great grandchildren, Sydnee, Levi, Harper, Knox, Lawson and Kohl.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at 10:00 a.m.
