GIBSON Stephen Lawrence Gibson, age 7, went home to be with Jesus, his Savior, on September 9, 2014, following a courageous battle with a brain tumor. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends who loved him very much. Stephen's life would seem too short to many, but those whose lives were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him. Although Stephen's illness was difficult, he possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage, he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved going to church to learn about Jesus. He enjoyed going to school at First Baptist Academy and playing with his classmates. He loved the colors blue and red, building Legos, and playing Mario Galaxy on his Nintendo Wii U. With Stephen's passing, we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him everyday, especially his smile and precious brown eyes, we know we will see him again in heaven. We were able to create wonderful memories, and it has been a privilege to be his parents. Our greatest source of strength has been The Great Physician, Jesus, who comforts our hearts during this difficult time. We love and appreciate our family and friends who have been a tremendous source of strength and encouragement during Stephen's illness. We also have a special place in our hearts for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , Nemours Children's Hospital, and Community PedsCare because of the care they provided Stephen.
