Steven Wayne Wall

Steven Wayne Wall, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026 in Lake City, Florida. He was born September 5, 1956, to Rex Wayne Wall and Cleone Hipwell Wall in Ogden, Utah. He grew up in Layton, Utah and graduated from Layton High School in 1974.

Steve’s greatest joy was his family. He met his beloved wife, Diane Nielsen, in a Mark Twain class in high school, beginning a love story that led to their marriage on June 25, 1976, in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple. Throughout their 50 years of marriage, they shared a lot of laughter and countless joyful memories, including a lifelong, playful debate over which of them was the first to wink at the other in that Mark Twain class.

Steve and Diane built their family in Davis County, Utah, where they raised their children. In their later years, they embarked on new adventures together, first moving to Anchorage, Alaska, where they enjoyed many outdoor opportunities, and later to White Springs, Florida, where they settled to be closer to their son and grandchildren.

Steve earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a youth and supported his children in Scouting. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time in Utah and Alaska hiking, hunting, and fishing with his family throughout his life. He could spot a deer from miles away and was an excellent shot with rifle and shotgun. He was also an accomplished cook and his family was blessed with a number of his holiday prime rib meals. He had a lifelong love of reading and telling stories that he passed on to his children.

Steve was an HVAC Controls Specialist by trade, working at Honeywell, Utah Controls, and ATS Alaska throughout his career. He was a master of his trade and he was regarded highly by the coworkers and engineers fortunate enough to work beside him.

Steve was always willing to lend a hand and generously shared his time and talents with family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. Whether he was repairing an air conditioner, replacing a water heater, fixing a furnace, or helping with any project that needed doing, he was someone others could always count on.

Steve is survived by his wife, Diane; his children: Brandon (Karisa), Jonathan (Anh), Adam, Stefanie, and Cody (Stephanie); his siblings: Diane, David, Todd, Bruce, and Jeannie; his grandchildren: Westen, Kayden, Olivia, Kevin, Sarah, Porter, Kate, Meila, and Adam; and his great-grandchildren: Axton and Ezra.

He is preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Susan.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, 901 4th St NW, Jasper, Florida. Interment will follow at the Friendship Cemetery in Jasper, Florida.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support they have received during this difficult time. They also wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lake City Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness and care they showed Steve.
