February 25, 1952 – September 13, 2022
Thomas Franklin "Tommy" Staten, age 70, of Statenville, GA. passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.
Tommy was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Quinton and Arvella Brewer Staten. His father was in the United States Air Force and happened to be stationed at Wichita Falls at the time of his birth but Echols County was always home. Tommy owned and operated his own sandblasting-painting business, Precision Coatings. The business was primarily water tower maintenance. Having grown up in rural South Georgia, he loved fishing and hunting and just sitting outside with family and friends enjoying all that nature had to offer. He was happiest when he was with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a brother, Don Staten.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, June Hagan Staten; two sons, Thomas Samuel Staten and Jonathon Kelby Staten (Jennifer), both of Statenville, Ga. along with Anthony Staten a grandson that has been raised as one of his sons; one daughter, Amanda Leigh Chauncey (B.J.) of Lake Park, GA.
Survivors also include his brother, Lavon Staten of Hattiesburg, MS; his four sisters, Linda Staten and Diane Carter, both of Statenville, Ga., Patricia Britcher, Des Moines, IA and Denise Tebedo, Lake Park, GA.; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Staten Family Cemetery near Statenville.
