Thomas William Smith, Sr., age 78, of Burnsville, N.C., passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at home following a lengthy illness. Thomas was a native of Hamilton County, FL. born Feb. 25, 1936 to the late Charles Edward Smith and Nellie Keene Smith and was one of ten children. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Buck and Willis Smith and six sisters, Ovis Deas, Dollie Selph, Florine Smith, Lottie Hill, Alene Willis and Winnie Hodges. Mr. Smith was a longtime resident of Jasper before moving to North Carolina. He worked in sales most of his life.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Audrey Johns Smith, Burnesville, N.C.; two sons, Tom Smith (Janice), Jennings, FL. and Blake Smith (Kay), Burnsville, N.C.; three daughters, Debra Hamm (Joey), Live Oak, FL., Kim Atkison (Roger), Anderson, S.C., and Leslie McKinney (Robert), Green Mountain, N.C.; one sister, Beatrice Selph, Jasper, FL.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at New Hope Baptist Church near Jennings, FL. with burial in the church cemetery.
