Tommy Lewis Rye, age 71, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Baya Point Nursing and Rehab Center in Lake City, FL. following an extended illness. Tommy was born June 12, 1941 in Hamilton County to the late Jack and Ruth Tyre Rye. Tommy was a longtime resident of Suwannee County where he farmed. He was a member of Suwannee Station Baptist Church near Live Oak.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Nelda Stone Rye; three daughters, Mildred Rye and Shanna Rye both of Live Oak, FL. and Dottie Rye of Valdosta, GA.; four brothers, Wilbur, Jack, James and Charles Rye all of Jasper, FL.; one sister, Ruby Rye Jones of Deland, FL.; eleven grandchildren, Brantly Poore, Theresa Poore, Makala Rye, Alex Merritt, Andy Rye, Tara Ratliff, Hunter Ratliff, Olivia Ratliff, Nicole, Ratliff, Tyler Ratliff and Alex Harkless; two great grandchildren, Brantly and Tyson Allen; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 15, 2013 at Suwannee Station Baptist Church. Interment followed at Rosemary Baptist Church Cemetery.
