IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Travis Shane
Williams
November 18, 1969 – September 24, 2023
Travis Shane Williams of Jasper, Florida passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, September 24, 2023 at the age of 53. Travis was an only son born on November 18, 1969 to Janice Simmons Williams and the late Donald R. Williams. Travis was born in Valdosta, GA and grew up in Jasper, Florida. He enjoyed attending Hamilton County High School and trying his hand at junior varsity football with his cousins and school buddies. Being boys in a small town offered many opportunities Travis enjoyed and he had some help. Being close in age with his cousins: Bentley, Tommy, Robbie, and Timmy, they enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and trucks, (racing), and riding the streets of Jasper from red light to red light. Travis and Bentley made a pack to join the military and they did so with pride, right after graduation. Travis was proud to serve as a US Marine for eight years, four active and four in the reserve. He started this chapter of his life in boot camp at Parris Island. After being assigned at Camp Pendleton in California for a short stint, he was stationed at Virginia Beach, then Kings Bay before landing at Camp LeJeune. That's where he got word that he would be serving during Desert Storm, but he had to take care of one of the most important, vital parts of his future. He had to marry the love of his life, Kristy Michelle Franklin. Plans were made, dresses and tuxedoes were selected, and they exchanged rings and 'I do's' on December 29,1990. The rest of his story is their story. For Travis, most of 1991 was spent overseas while he served during Desert Storm. So many were praying for his safe return. What an amazing celebration when he came home! Friends and family filled the Jasper Women's Club in celebration of having this Jasper boy come back home to his family.
Travis and Kristy had two precious girls, Kori Elizabeth, born December 12, 2001, and Taylor Grace, born December 8, 2005. He spent his life loving his family. Nothing meant more to him than his girls and Kristy.
Work eventually pulled Travis and Kristy to Lake Park, GA where they lived for many years before returning to Jasper. He continued to enjoy hunting and fishing with his dad and father-in-law before their passing. He treasured those moments on the water and the times the hook landed just right. Many photos were taken to celebrate and provide proof of the catch. One of Travis' many talents was baking and decorating cakes. He loved making them, especially for his little girls. Their birthdays were always extra special. He worked for Johnson Distributing Company and delivered goods to the South Georgia area: Valdosta, Lake Park, Thomasville, and Hahira.
Travis is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kristy Michelle Williams; two daughters, Kori Elizabeth and Taylor Grace Williams; mother, Janice Williams of Jasper; and mother-in-law, Cheryl Franklin of Jasper.
Travis is also survived by many special aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, friends and loved ones.
