Velma J. Starling "Sister", age 87, of Jennings, FL. passed away early on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Velma was born in Ft. Myers, FL. on May 21, 1930 to the late Hugh and Ethel Weeks Goldie.
She was predeceased by her husband J.D. Starling. Velma was a homemaker most of her life. Her talents seem to never end as she made ceramics, painted and crafted many beautiful things. She was gifted with the heart of a servant and was able to touch many lives with her gift.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sonja J. Di Giorgio (Rocco), Jasper, FL. and Mary Lou Luff (David), Naples, FL.; three brothers, Clinton Goldie (Laurel), of Idaho, Stanley Goldie (Karen), Jasper, FL., Shelly Goldie (Carla), Jasper, FL.; two sisters, Linda Thompson of South Carolina and Aileen Van Garsel, Jasper, FL.; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
While Velma wanted no big send off, her family respecting her wishes, will lay her to rest in a private graveside service at Joshua Creek Cemetery in Arcadia, FL.
