W. Jean Sparks, age 70, Jasper, FL. passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL. following a lengthy illness. Jean was born in Crossville, Tennessee on February 12, 1943 to the late Ira and Edna Ross Burden. She worked in the restaurant business for most of her life. Jean loved the outdoors, working with her flowers, gardening and going fishing. The family moved to Hamilton County over 30 years from Bushnell, FL.
Survivors include her husband, David Amerson of Jasper; three sons, Dale Collins, Jacksonville, FL., Dwayne Collins and his wife Marsha of Jasper and William "Billy" Collins and his wife Gerry, also of Jasper; one daughter, Karen Sparks Whatley and her husband Charlie of Jasper; two brothers, Clyde Burden, of Virginia and David Burden of Tennessee; one sister, Carolyn Whittenburg of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Jessica, Sammy, Steven and Kayla; two great grandchildren, Jayme and Kase.
Per her wishes, Jean will be cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Haven Hospice, 6037 West U.S. Hwy 90, Lake City, FL. 32055.
