Walter John Crosby "Punk", age 74, of Echols County, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 following a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Walter was born on January 27, 1945 to the late Dan S. and Bertha Richardson Crosby. He worked for many years on the railroad alongside his father and brother, Danny Bo, but later found his calling in the logging industry. Walter loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, but hunting was his passion. He also had a green thumb for gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Bertha Crosby, seven siblings, Joe Crosby (Judy), Ann Trice (Calvin), Faye Sali (Steve), Kathy Crosby, Christine Beaty, Wilson Crosby and Dan Crosby and his son-in-law, Michael Christie.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Peggy Pittman Crosby; two sons, Johnny Crosby (fiancé` Carolyn) and Keith Crosby; one daughter, Melissa Christie; two grandchildren whom he adored, Skylar and Kaiden Christie; his two sisters, Dee Deacon (Steve) and Mary Smith (Tom); numerous nieces and nephews.

Walter was well thought of in the community. He like to tell jokes and enjoyed making people laugh. He was a humble man who would do anything he could to help others. He will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Jennings Missionary Baptist Church in Jennings, FL. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sassers Landing Cemetery near Jennings.
