Wanda Rowe Calender, age 63, of Jennings, FL. passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 following an extended illness. Wanda was born in Thomasville, Georgia to the late John Hall Rowe and Evelyn Florence Jenkins Rowe. She lived most of her early years in Valdosta, Georgia where she graduated from high school and is fondly remembered by her friends as one of the best divers in South Georgia. She later moved to Alabama where she made her home until 2005 when she moved to Jennings. She was employed by Winn Dixie in Lake Park, GA. Wanda enjoyed working with the Hamilton County Riding Club as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Evelyn Rowe and a brother, Johnny Rowe.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, "Cal" Calender, Jennings; one son, Michael Bynum (Candy), Olive Branch, Mississippi; two daughters, Leighanne McAlpin (Tim), Middleton, TN and Lisa Williams (Jeffery), Nashville, TN.; two step daughters, Vicki Calender, Calera, AL and Leah Calender (Phillip), Birmingham, AL.; two brothers, Gary Rowe (Vicki), Valdosta, GA and Bryan Rowe, Hahira, GA.; her sister, Carol Howell Rowe, Jennings, FL.; 14 grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Sears Chapel Cemetery, Rockford, AL.
