IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Webster Alan
Swofford
December 1, 1964 – October 24, 2023
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Webster Alan Swofford, affectionately known as "Swoff," who departed this world on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the age of 58, after a valiant battle against cancer. Alan, a resident of Jennings, FL, left a mark on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
On any given Saturday afternoon, you could find Alan standing behind the grill, talking about Gator football, a passion that ran deep within him. No matter how the Gators fared on the field that day, Alan's unwavering optimism shone through as he'd say, "They've got it next time." He found joy in the simple pleasures of life. If you couldn't find Alan behind the grill, he was out in a field looking for arrowheads, trailing a deer or taking a good-looking fish off the line. Alan loved the great outdoors.
Above all, Alan cherished his family. His love was boundless and effortlessly given. He possessed a heart as vast as the Florida wilderness he held dear, and his infectious laughter and sweet soul warmed the hearts of everyone he encountered. Even on his darkest days, he would greet you with a heartfelt, "How ya doing?"
Alan was immensely proud of his role as a father to two daughters, and this extended to his two grandsons, William Wyatt Leis and Waylon Scott Orme, as well as his granddaughter, Shelby Ellen-Jeanne Orme. He was not only a devoted family man but also an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Yet, his talents didn't stop there; he was a beloved uncle to nieces and later, great-nieces and nephews, endearing himself to each generation with his warmth and humor.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Langdale Fuel Company, where Alan worked tirelessly until his health no longer permitted, yet his colleagues continued to visit him. Additionally, they extend their sincere appreciation to Haven Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Alan's final days.
Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Louise Swofford of Jasper, FL. His legacy lives on through his loving daughters: Ashley Elaine Marie Swofford of Lake City, FL, and Sarah Jane Swofford (Rob) of Ocala, FL; his cherished grandchildren, William Wyatt Leis, Waylon Scott Orme, and Shelby Ellen-Jeanne Orme, as well as his brother, Roger Swofford (Barbara) of Alpharetta, GA, and his sister, Glenda Dennis (Brice) of Jasper, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL to honor Alan's memory and the exceptional care he received during his final moments.
