Obituary

Wilbert Altman, 93, of White Springs, Florida, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Born on September 20, 1932, in Taylor, Florida, to Admiral Dewey Altman and Carrie Williams Altman, Wilbert was a devoted member of White Springs Methodist Church. A God-loving man and a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, he never met a stranger and touched countless lives with his kindness and generosity.

Wilbert and his beloved wife, Evelyn Wiggins Altman, were married on October 19, 1985, and shared a life full of love, faith, and family. He spent 38 years in the forestry industry, dedicating himself to the land he loved. Deeply involved in his church and community, and guided by his favorite book of the Bible, Hebrews, Wilbert was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who cherished time with his family, cheering on the Florida Gators, tending his garden, fishing, kayaking, and enjoying all that the outdoors had to offer. He also treasured vacations to the Smoky Mountains, where he created many lasting memories with loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Admiral Dewey Altman and Carrie Williams Altman, and his siblings JB Altman, Lonzie Altman, Morris Altman, Willa Mae Raulerson, Mallavene Crawford, Phyllis Upchurch, Pearlie Taylor, and George Ray Altman.

Wilbert leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: his wife of 40 years, Evelyn Wiggins Altman; his children Wilbert K. Altman (Victoria), Martin G. Altman, and Jamie D. Miller (Steve); his grandchildren Megan N. Holcomb (Lance), Lindsay R. Henry (Matt), and Steven G. Miller; and his great-grandchildren Corrine Henry and James David Henry. He is also survived by his siblings Albert Altman (Laverne), Margaret Altman, Linda Sue Tyre, and Peggy Keves (Bill), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The services to celebrate Wilbert's life will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd 2025, at White Springs Methodist Church, with viewing beginning at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest immediately afterward at Riverside Cemetery, White Springs, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to White Springs Methodist Church, P.O. Box 204, White Springs, Florida 32096, in honor of Wilbert's life and enduring faith.
