Mr. Willard Marvin Selph, age 90, of Jasper, FL. passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper following an extended illness. Marvin was born on September 16, 1922 to the late William Melvin and Mertie Herring Selph. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Marvin was recognized as a successful farmer in the county but was known far and wide for his passion for fishing. He had a terrific sense of humor and had plenty of fishing stories to share anytime you wanted to sit down and talk fishing. Mr. Selph was preceded in death in December of 2008 by his loving and devoted wife of over 65 years, Dollie Smith Selph and in December of 1972 by a daughter, Ginger Alene Selph. He was also predeceased by his five brothers, Joel, Wallace, Lawrence, Cleveland and H.S. Selph and his two sisters, Eula Herring and Neva Selph.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin "Buddy" Selph, Jasper, FL. and Don Selph (Cathy) of Franklin, Arkansas; two daughters, Elaine Perez and Cheryl Clayton, both of Jasper, FL.; 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Burnham Christian Church near Jennings with Pastor Avery Kelly and Pastor Johnny Brown officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military rites at the graveside provided by the United States Navy.
