William Arvel Drury, Jr. "Bill", age 56, of Jasper, FL. passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was well known in Hamilton County and surrounding communities. He was born in Valdosta, Georgia on January 1, 1959 and made his home in Jasper most of his life. He attended Valwood School in Valdosta and graduated from Hamilton County High School. He attended college at Lake City Community College and Valdosta State. Bill was a longtime employee at Hamilton Correctional Institution in Jasper and then went to work for the Hamilton County Road Department until his health declined. You could find Bill most any evening doing what he enjoyed most and that was just riding the roads of Hamilton County. He loved his family and friends and in return he leaves behind many that love him and will miss him dearly. Bill was predeceased by his father, William Arvel Drury, Sr.
Survivors include his daughter, Holly Drury Galloway of Live Oak, FL. and his son, William Arvel Drury, III "Will" of Ashburn, Georgia; his mother, Willene Willis Drury, Jasper, FL.; a sister, Stephanie Drury Carter ( Rodney ), Smithfield, N.C.; and two precious grandchildren, Lacey and Taylor Galloway.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Jasper, FL. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
