Obituary

William Albert Jones, Jr. best known as "Wook" passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Madison, FL. following an illness of some time.

Graveside services were held  on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Oak Grove Cemetery near Jennings, FL. with Bro. Greg Godwin officiating.

Albert was born in Jennings, FL. on December 7, 1941 to the late William Albert Jones Sr. and Lillian Roebuck Jones. Albert was definitely one of a kind and some might say that was because Hamilton County couldn't handle but one Albert. Of course for all of that "big" reputation, what you really got was one big lump of loving and caring man. He worked his way through life never waiting on others to give him a hand out. As a young man he worked at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home which at the time was also the local ambulance service. His knowledge of every bump in the road and every log down in the woods came in handy when he was out on those ambulance calls. He knew everyone in the county and the three surrounding counties which served him well when he went to work for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Charlie Rhoden and later Sheriff J. Harrell Reid. Wook had a big personality and was loved and respected by folks on both sides of the law. Because he had that love and respect, Albert was able to help so many get back in line without having to go to jail. Some might question his tactics but if you were the one about to go to jail and you looked up and saw Albert Jones coming, you knew he would let you tell your side of the story because he was just an old country boy too. Albert was respected for the good that he did. He loved his family and he loved for folks to gather up at his place and enjoy being together. His children knew they could come to him when they needed him and he would do what he could to help them. The grandchildren adored him as did their friends.

Albert loved the days when he could get out and run the deer with dogs. The song "Country Road Take Me Home" was written for a man just like Wook Jones because he covered many a country mile with his hunting dogs in the back of the truck. When he was tired of hunting, the catfish didn't have a chance in the river. He loved nothing more than loading up the boat and going fishing on a nice sunny day.

Albert was preceded in death by the woman he loved with all of his heart, Sadie Jones, his son Jeff Jones, grandson, Codi  and twin grandsons, Garrett and Gage.

Survivors include three sons, Jonathan Jones, Jennings, FL., Jason Jones and his wife Leslie of Jennings and Al Jones and his wife Donna of Valdosta, GA.; one daughter, Kimberly Hillis and her husband Dwayne of Lake Park, GA.; his brother Clayton Jones and his wife Bonnie, Jasper, FL.; his three sisters, Lillian Bembry, Geraldine Fisher and Faye Anne Godwin; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
