Obituary

Willie Morris "Pa" Morgan, age 80, of Jasper, FL. passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL., with his family by his side.

Willie Morris was born at home on October 25, 1940 in Echols County, Georgia to the late James and Sallie Peterson Morgan. Morris was a man that learned to put God first in his life. He was given the gift of carpentry and through that gift, Morris was able to help many people in the community building and restoring properties often times not charging nearly what he could or should have. He took younger men under his wing and allowed them to learn the trade of carpentry in hopes that they would do the same one day. His work day did not end at five o'clock like most, Morris went home to his other job, working to make his little farm pay off. In order, God first, then his love and dedication to the family God blessed him with. Morris didn't need a boy because God blessed him with four beautiful but tough daughters who learned to get out there on the farm and work side by side with him until dark. He and his wife Faye worked to teach them all the value of hard work but more importantly, to love and depend on God to lead their paths. Morris loved people and he loved to laugh and joke and always had the ability to make people smile. He brought much joy to the residents at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center where he was head of maintenance for over 20 years. He treated each resident like family and was interested in what their needs were as he worked doing this project or that project right around them. When he was not working, which was very little, Morris enjoyed hunting and fishing. The girls learned early on in life that you worked when you had to, you fished when you had time, but church was a must. Morris was a faithful member and deacon at Suwannee Station Baptist Church in Suwannee County as long as his health permitted. To say he was proud of his children and his grandchildren would be a huge understatement. That love was returned ten-fold as he grew tired these last months and needed more help. If you knew Morris really well, you might grin at the thought that he is in heaven right now working on a project. We certainly know, God the Father has told him, welcome home my good and faithful servant, well done.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Faye Pitts Morgan; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Fry of Jasper, FL., Angie and Chris Lee of White Springs, Gina Marler of Live Oak and Sheila and Jay Pittman of Jasper; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Adoptive sons, Kenny Morgan and Red Alligood; and his faithful companion and partner in crime, Penny his little Jack Russell pup.
