Wilmer Lawrence Jones, III, aged 76, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on August 23rd, 2023. Wilmer was born on August 19, 1947, in Baltimore City, Maryland to the late Wilmer Lawrence Jones, II and Anna Ruth Perkins. He was married to the late Mary Hurd Jones.  Upon graduating high school, Wilmer enlisted in the Navy and attended college. After an honorable discharge, Wilmer began working for Gulf Life Insurance Company out of Jacksonville, FL.  After some time, Wilmer decided to take a job with the Duval County School Board and worked in Food Services installing equipment and appliances.  It was then he decided to begin his profession as a cook in the restaurant industry and enjoyed cooking for several restaurants, with the last being Outback Steakhouse.  Wilmer enjoyed fishing and cooking for his family.  He was a long time Gator fan and loved to watch them play football.

Wilmer is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hurd Jones.  He is survived by his sister, Judith Pacheco, of Jacksonville, FL and his nephew, Anrique Narciso, of Jacksonville, FL

Under the direction of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home of Jasper, FL, a funeral service will be held at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 28, 2023.
